Laurel Lake Fitness Club adds more wellness programs, recruits additional fitness instructors
April 20, 2008 -- In order to meet a growing demand for high-quality, active lifestyle programs, Laurel Lake has added five new fitness classes and recruited two additional fitness instructors.
Laurel Lake’s Fitness Club caters to the unique needs of active adults—55 and older—to promote lifelong health and wellness. Membership is open to all Laurel Lake residents and Priority Club members, who may enjoy a wide range of classes designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, cardiovascular fitness, personal well-being and mental acuity.
Members can take their pick of 20 invigorating "land and water" fitness programs, including five new ways to get in shape this Spring:
- Kickin’ It Up
– Motivating music and low-impact aerobics to boost energy, stamina and burn calories.- Band Sculpt
– Strengthening and toning with thera-bands.- Stretched & Stable
– Static and dynamic stretching for flexibility, balance and relaxation.- Golf Ready
– Sports clinic for lower-scoring, injury-free golf.- Yoga Meditation
– A very relaxing and gentle version of the ancient art form.Wellness amenities on campus include an Exercise & Lap Pool; a Therapy Spa; a Fitness Room equipped with state-of-the-art Keiser compressed-air resistance machines, treadmills, bikes and Nu-Steps; shower and changing rooms with towel service; massage therapy and other services.
New instructors have also been recruited to Laurel Lake’s Wellness Team. Members of the team perform functional fitness assessments, design personal wellness plans, guide residents in use of exercise equipment, and lead individual and small group fitness programs.
Fitness coach Jill Rango has 22 years of experience and is certified as a Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise, and as a Golf Biomechanic through the CHEK Institute in San Diego.
Personal Fitness Trainer Gerrick Stevens is also certified through the American Council on Exercise, having received his degree in Exercise Science from Ohio State University. There he provided wellness programs for faculty and staff, and worked with the Ohio State Hockey team in their strength and conditioning program. Gerrick works privately one-on-one with individuals to design and implement a progressive fitness plan with physician approval.
