concert at Laurel Lake to feature fourteen gifted
Kent State piano scholars, celebrates Frederic Chopin's 200th Birthday
On
Wednesday, February 17 at 7 p.m., Laurel Lake Retirement Community will host a
special
performance by gifted young pianists from the United States, Malaysia, Korea,
Costa Rica and Ecuador, all currently studying at the Kent State University
School of Music. The concert is free and open to the public.
Sponsored by The Piano Division at Kent State University’s Hugh A. Glauser School of Music, the concert celebrates the life and works of Frederic Chopin in honor of the composer’s 200th birthday. Undergraduate and graduate students will perform the four Ballades, along with Scherzo No. 4 in E Major, Polonaise in A-flat Major, and several Etudes, Mazurkas and Nocturnes, including Op. 48 No. 1.
The same program will be presented at Kent State’s Ludwig Recital Hall as part of the "Kent Keyboard Series" on February 21, 2010 at 5:00 pm.
