Within the 150-acre campus of Laurel Lake, a not-for-profit active
retirement community located in Hudson, Ohio, the Crown Center provides advanced
therapy and restorative programs for residents so they can quickly recover after
an injury or surgery – at little extra cost, thanks to their Life Care
contract – and get back to their Laurel Lake homes and normal routines as soon
as possible.
The Crown Center expansion is a major part of Laurel Lake’s
long-range plan to enhance campus health and wellness amenities, enabling the
community to better serve current and future generations of take-charge, active
residents.
When completed in 2012, the "new and improved" Crown
Center will have the flexibility to offer all private rooms with private baths,
and a more spacious design. The total number of licensed skilled nursing beds
will remain 75. Semi-private accommodations will still be available for Laurel
Lake residents who prefer them. The 12,800 sq. ft. expansion will add 25 new private suites, a stylish family lounge, dining and meeting rooms, and a second courtyard bringing in more natural light. A beautiful new porte-cochère at the Main Entrance is also planned.
The estimated $2.3 million cost will be funded entirely
by a combination of Laurel Lake capital reserve and private donations from
residents, family members and friends through the Laurel Lake Foundation.
RDL Architects of Shaker
Heights and The Krill Co. of Cleveland have been selected to design and
build the project. Both are well-respected regional experts in senior living and
healthcare environmental design.
"The Crown Center has long been known for exceptional,
person-centered care," said David Oster, Executive Director of Laurel Lake.
"With the conversion to all private rooms, residents of Laurel Lake will
soon be able to receive that care in greater comfort and privacy."
Designed and constructed to meet the healthcare needs of Laurel
Lake independent and assisted living residents since the community first opened
in 1989, the Crown Center has
earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the region’s most trusted and
respected rehabilitation and skilled nursing centers. The facility scores
consistently high ratings in annual Ohio Department of Health and
resident/family satisfaction surveys.
