"COMPOSER SPOTLIGHT: GIUSEPPE VERDI"
Monday, January 9 @ 3:30 PM
Live from The Cleveland Institute of Music.
Verdi is considered by many to be the most influential Italian opera composer in music history. This session explores the contributions of this operatic giant and includes excerpts from Aida, Nabucco, Rigoletto and other operas.

"ITALIAN ART"
Monday, January 16 @ 3:30 PM
Live from The Cleveland Museum of Art.
Italy has a long and rich tradition in the visual arts, but what do these images communicate about the country's history? Survey Italy's artistic heritage by exploring why particular subjects were depicted in sculptures, paintings and decorative arts. Students will learn how factors such as patronage and subject matter convey some of the ideals and events important to residents throughout Italy in the last two thousand years. The objects shown range from decorative arts made by the ancient Etruscans to a print created by Boccioni, a proponent of the Italian Futurist movement in the early twentieth century.

"FLAMENCO"
Monday, January 23 @ 3:30 PM
Live from The Cleveland Institute of Music.
The music and culture of Spain is explored through the Flamenco experience. Understand the use of improvisation, vocal style, and different styles of cante. View artist representations of Flamenco and explore this changing art form through the interpretations of some of its most prominent artists.

"SPANISH ART"
Monday, January 30 @ 3:30 PM
Live from The Cleveland Museum of Art.
This program features paintings by artists working from or born in Spain. Learn about Renaissance, Baroque and Modern Spanish art along with the cultural and historical context of the works highlighted. Many of the artists in the CMA’s collection—El Greco, Goya and Picasso, for example—are among the best known in western art history.
