"LIVE IN CONCERT WITH MADELINE LUCAS, FLUTE" "LEGACY OF LIGHT: THE CLEVELAND PLAY HOUSE
PRODUCTION" Live from The Cleveland Play House. Join a live videoconference with Laura Kepley, Cleveland Play House Associate Artistic Director, as she discusses the staging of Legacy of Light. This ingenious and sweet time-traveling comedy contrasts two female scientists in their forties. One, living in the age of Enlightenment, races to complete her research before her child is born. The other, living in the present and unable to conceive, arranges for a surrogate to carry her child. Their legacies collide in this "entertaining new comedy" (Variety) about the search for self-discovery, knowledge and love. LEGACY OF LIGHT: FRIDAY MATINEE AT THE CLEVELAND PLAY
HOUSE Take a field trip with Laurel Lake residents to The Cleveland Play House for a matinee performance of Legacy of Light. Showstopper ticket cost: $10. Laurel Lake residents have first priority for event registration. Call Betty Presti at 330-655-1492 to inquire about ticket availability. "THE MOST DANGEROUS MAN IN AMERICA: DANIEL ELLSBERG AND THE PENTAGON PAPERS" Monday, April 18 @ 11:00 AM Via live videoconference, join a Panel Discussion with Daniel Ellsberg, CWRU Professor of Law Jonathan Entin, and Hiram College Center for Engaged Ethics Director Douglas Brattebo, moderated by Rick Jackson of WCPN 90.3 IdeaStream. "The Most Dangerous Man in America" is the story of what happens when a former Pentagon insider, armed only with his conscience, steadfast determination, and a file cabinet full of classified documents, decides to challenge the Presidency. In 1971, Daniel Ellsberg shook America to its foundations when he smuggled a top-secret Pentagon study to the New York Times that showed how five Presidents consistently lied to the American people about the Vietnam War that was tearing America apart. "ENGLISH GARDENS OF KENT AND SUSSEX" Laurel Lake will host a live on-site lecture with Cynthia Druckenbrod, Director of Horticulture & Conservation at The Cleveland Botanical Garden. Ms. Druckenbrod will give a special presentation on the finest English gardens in the Kent and Sussex regions of southern England. Through vivid imagery, you'll "visit" some of the most magnificent gardens and estates, learn about their timeless designs and planting schemes, and "meet" some of the master garden designers, owners and head gardeners who have made it all possible. "LOVE AFFAIRS FROM FAMOUS ENGLISH POETS" Monday, April 25 @ 3:30 PM Live from Touch the Sky in West Sussex, England. A guided tour of the writings of world-renowned English poets, whose love affairs were their reason for being. Explore the true life stories of Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Robert Browning, the poetry of Hillaire Belloc and his love for American Elodie Hogan, and the passionate love between Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
