The Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s remarkable exhibition,
"Extreme Mammals: The Biggest, Smallest, and Most Amazing
Mammals of All Time," will astonish and amaze you.
A bee-sized bat! A beaver with horns! Whales with teeth as big as a slice of pizza! There's even a live colony of naked mole rats with long, sharp incisors that the museum's director of wildlife resources, Harvey Webster, recently described as "saber-toothed sausages." The traveling exhibition was organized by the American Museum of Natural History in New York, with the Cleveland Museum as one of its collaborators. On Monday, March 7 at 3:30 p.m. at Laurel Lake, join a special Distance Learning with University Circle program with Joe Hannibal, Ph.D., the museum’s Curator of Invertebrate Paleontology specializing in extreme arthropods. Hannibal researches some of the gigantic invertebrates that crept and crawled around our world before the reptiles and mammals got around to trying out extreme body sizes.
