CONTACT Evening concert at Laurel Lake to feature gifted Kent State Piano Institute scholars July 15, 2011 -- On Thursday, July 21 at 7 p.m., Laurel Lake Retirement Community will host a festival performance by gifted young pianists from around the world, participants of the 6th Annual Piano Institute at Kent State University. The concert is free and open to the public. Sponsored by The Piano Division at Kent State University’s Hugh A. Glauser School of Music, the July 17-27 Piano Institute is a highly intensive festival for talented piano students in grades 7-12, offering a unique combination of lessons, master classes and performance opportunities. Students from all over the nation converge on the campus of Kent State University for 11 days of inspiration, learning and application. The July 21 performance before an appreciative Laurel Lake audience is an important part of the students' preparation for their gala concert at Severance Hall's Reinberger Chamber Hall. The Arts at Laurel Lake is a free concert series presenting a wide variety of performing artists as a public service to support the arts in Northeast Ohio.
